How to request access to BEMC records under the Promotion of Access to Information Act.
This page provides a public summary of BEMC record categories and request channels. The formal section 51 PAIA Manual should be reviewed and approved with the company’s designated Information Officer details before final publication.

Requests are administered through the duly designated Information Officer of BEMC. The authorised officer’s current registration and contact particulars must be confirmed in the formal PAIA Manual and relevant internal records. The public request email is [email protected].

4. Automatically available records
Public website pages, corporate contact information and materials specifically made available by BEMC may be accessed without a formal PAIA request. Other records require assessment under PAIA and applicable confidentiality, privilege, privacy and commercial-protection provisions.
5. Request process
- Identify the record with enough detail for BEMC to locate it.
- State the requester’s contact details and preferred access form.
- Provide proof of identity and, where acting for another person, proof of authority.
- Explain the right to be exercised or protected where PAIA requires it.
- Submit the prescribed form and pay any applicable fee.
6. Grounds for refusal or limitation
Access may be refused or limited where PAIA protects personal information, confidential third-party information, commercial information, safety, security, legal privilege, research, intellectual property or other legally protected interests.
7. Information Regulator guidance
Official PAIA forms, guidance and complaint information are available from the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za/paia.
8. Formal manual status
This website page is not a substitute for a formally approved and maintained PAIA Manual. BEMC should complete the Information Regulator’s private-body template, insert current Information Officer details, approve it internally and make the final document available through this page.
