How BEMC handles personal information submitted through this website.
This notice explains the personal information BEMC collects, why it is processed, how it is protected and the rights available to data subjects under South African law.
1. Scope
This notice applies to personal information processed through the BEMC website, enquiry forms, email responses and initial business-development interactions. Separate notices or contractual provisions may apply to employees, learners, facilitators, suppliers, project teams and client assignments.
2. Information BEMC may collect
- Names, work email addresses, positions, organisations, countries and localities.
- Project, training, STEM, vocational or partnership requirements submitted through an enquiry form.
- Information about proposed learner cohorts, workplace capacity, schools, programmes or delivery partners.
- Technical security data such as IP-derived rate-limit tokens, submission time and source page.
- Correspondence and records created while responding to an enquiry.
The public forms are not designed for identity documents, special personal information, learner records, confidential tenders, detailed financial information or sensitive project documents.
3. Purposes of processing
- To receive, route, assess and respond to enquiries.
- To determine whether BEMC has the relevant capability, capacity, partners or accreditation arrangements.
- To prepare discussions, proposals, course information, pricing and logistics.
- To conduct proportionate counterparty, accreditation, security or compliance checks before an engagement.
- To protect the website, prevent abuse and maintain records of business communications.
- To comply with legal, regulatory, audit and contractual obligations.
4. Lawful processing
BEMC processes information where it is necessary to respond to a request, prepare or perform a contract, comply with law, protect legitimate business and security interests, or where valid consent is appropriate. Marketing consent is not assumed from a project or course enquiry.
5. Recipients and service providers
Information may be accessed by authorised BEMC personnel and, where necessary, appropriately governed technology, hosting, email, professional, training, assessment or delivery partners. Information is shared only to the extent required for the stated purpose, due diligence or legal obligation.
6. Cross-border processing
BEMC operates in South Africa and Zimbabwe and may use technology or partners in other jurisdictions. Where personal information is transferred outside South Africa, BEMC will apply the safeguards required by POPIA and the relevant contractual or legal arrangement.
7. Retention
Enquiry records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, pursue a legitimate opportunity, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes or comply with law. Records that are not required are securely deleted or de-identified in accordance with applicable retention practices.
8. Security
BEMC applies reasonable organisational and technical safeguards, including access controls, encrypted transmission, spam and rate-limit controls, secure credentials, restricted sharing and proportionate supplier controls. No internet transmission is entirely risk-free; visitors should not submit sensitive documents through the public forms.
9. Data-subject rights
Subject to POPIA and applicable limitations, a person may request access to personal information, correction or deletion, object to certain processing, request restriction, withdraw consent where consent is the basis, or lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
10. Cookies and analytics
The initial BEMC website does not use advertising trackers or non-essential analytics cookies. Essential server security and form-processing functions may operate without creating a marketing profile. This notice will be updated if the technology changes.
11. Information Regulator
Data subjects may contact the Information Regulator of South Africa using the official contact channels published at inforegulator.org.za.

BEMC may update this notice when services, legal requirements or processing practices change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page.
